The Incident
Our client, a 77-year-old man, was at a T-junction when the defendant attempted to perform a U-turn, colliding with the cyclist. The client fell from his bike and the bike’s kickstand snapped, injuring the man’s calf.
Injuries Sustained
Due to the collision, our client suffered the following injuries:
- A deep wound to his calf, requiring referral to a plastic surgeon
- Injury to forearm
- Right elbow injury
- Injury to the right side of his neck
- Shoulder injury
- Lower back/left hip injury
- Ankle and foot injury
- Psychological injury
The Case
The claim was submitted via the Ministry of Justice Portal and was handled by Solicitor, Jayne Orme and Litigation Executive, Diane Holderness.
Although the case was straightforward, initial compensation offers were low, with a final offer of £3,100. Our expert cycling accident lawyers persevered to recover the right amount of compensation for the client’s injuries and were able to secure an increased offer that the client was happy with.
Although the client was referred for plastic surgery for his injuries, he chose not to proceed due to his age; he said he was glad that he wasn’t more seriously injured. Keen on the outdoors, the client wished to try and continue without too much fuss.
The Outcome
Jayne and Diane successfully recovered cycling accident compensation of £6,000, which is almost double the original offer made. The client was happy that he took our advice to pursue the compensation amount further.
Once the case was resolved, the client commented that he was over the moon with the settlement and thanked our team for all their hard work.
