Cyclist Injured in Road Collision Secures Settlement After Initial Claim Rejected

Incident details 

While cycling along a main road, our client was struck by a vehicle emerging from a side street, resulting in a fractured wrist, minor bruising and psychological injuries.  

Lasting impact  

The accident has had a lasting emotional effect, leaving our client anxious about cycling again. Although her son enjoys going on bike rides together, she now often refuses to go. 

The incident continues to affect the client emotionally, and she avoids thinking about it – she has persistent wrist pain, impacting her at work and when she attempts to cycle. 

The case and outcome  

The client approached us after her original claim had been rejected by another firm. Cycling Accident Lawyer, Nina Haddock took on the case and submitted the claim via the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) portal. 

Liability was admitted, and an initial settlement offer of £6,500 was made. Although we advised against accepting this early offer, the client was keen to move forward and chose to settle. She’s now considering using the compensation to purchase a new bike. 

Following the resolution of the case, the client shared: “From start to finish everyone has been brilliant – Nina has been great and kept me updated.”
