Cheshire Cyclist Awarded £5,000 After Road Collision
Our client, a 30-year-old man from Cheshire was involved in a road traffic accident while cycling along a main road. The other driver, travelling in the opposite direction, turned right across his path, causing a sudden and avoidable collision. Despite being an experienced cyclist, our client had no chance to avoid the crash.
The Incident
The driver’s actions left our client injured and understandably shaken. Thankfully, liability was admitted through the Ministry of Justice claims portal. However, when no offers were made at Stage 2 of the process, the claim dropped out of the portal and had to be formally issued to progress.
Injuries Sustained
Our client suffered several soft tissue injuries, a cut to his finger, and psychological distress in the form of anxiety following the incident. His injuries forced him to take time off work, adding additional stress to what was already a difficult period.
Legal Support and Client Care
Associate Solicitor Jayne Orme and Paralegal Leanne Tattersall guided the client through the claim with compassion and professionalism. With her support, the legal process remained clear and manageable, even when the claim became more complex.
Jayne ensured the case was issued in good time after it exited the portal, demonstrating a proactive approach that kept the client’s best interests front and centre. She worked closely with the client to understand the full impact of the accident and ensured all relevant losses and symptoms were accounted for.
The Outcome
The case was successfully settled for £5,000, a fair reflection of the physical and emotional toll the accident had taken. The client was pleased with the outcome and, more importantly, grateful that he could now move forward.
Looking Ahead
Our client is relieved the case is now behind him. With the support he received from Jayne and the wider Cycle-SOS team, he’s ready to continue rebuilding his confidence and get back to life before the crash.
“This client remained calm and reasonable throughout, even when things became more complex,” said Jayne. “I’m really pleased we could get the result he deserved and help him close this chapter.”
Swindon Teacher Receives £5,000 in Compensation After Road Collision
Whilst out riding his road by, our client a 49-year-old teacher from Swindon was injured in a road traffic accident when a driver pulled out of a side road into his path, causing a collision. The incident left him with a range of physical injuries and emotional distress, disrupting both his personal and professional life.
The Incident
The accident occurred on a quiet road but had a significant impact. As our client travelled lawfully along his route, the defendant pulled out unexpectedly from a side road, causing a crash. Police were called to the scene, and the incident was formally logged. The defendant’s insurers admitted liability via the Ministry of Justice claims portal.
Injuries Sustained
Our client suffered soft tissue injuries to his neck and lower back, as well as damage to his left knee, elbow, and hand. Alongside the physical pain, he developed a fear of travel, a common psychological effect of road accidents that can take time to overcome.
Initially, the injuries were expected to heal within a standard recovery period. However, when symptoms persisted beyond medical predictions, Associate Solicitor Jayne Orme arranged for further expert evidence to be obtained to better understand the extent of his ongoing discomfort.
Private Physiotherapy and Client Support
Thanks to Jayne’s proactive approach, the defendant’s insurers agreed to fund private physiotherapy sessions, ensuring our client had quick access to professional treatment. This helped support his physical recovery and provided reassurance during a difficult time.
Jayne developed a strong working relationship with the client. “He was a pleasure to support throughout the claim. He remained polite, understanding, and focused on doing what was needed to move forward with his recovery,” she said.
The Outcome
After careful evidence gathering and open communication with the other side, the claim was settled for £5,000. This sum reflected both the pain and suffering caused by the accident, as well as the commitment our client showed throughout his recovery.
Looking Ahead
While the claim has now settled, our client continues to work on his physical rehabilitation with the support of physiotherapy. His resilience and calm approach have been admirable, and we wish him all the very best as he looks forward to putting this difficult chapter behind him.
